The Health ICT strategic Framework 2015 – 2020 for sustained application of ICT in health care was drafted through series of meetings that started in November 2014. The vision for eHealth was collaboratively articulated at a vision statement exercise in January 2015. The articulated vision was then refined to include the strategic context for health and ICT and to include recommendations for achieving the vision and their implication for stakeholders by the writeshop team in February 2015.
eHealth stakeholders ratify the recommendation and kickstart the action plan development in March 2015. The core strategy writing team met severally to finalise the action plan and M&E plans with technical support from UN Foundation. The first draft of the Health ICT Framework was ready in May 2015. Since then it has gone through several Iteration including reviews by the donor community in July of 2015. The eHealth community of practice also reviewed the draft document in July 2015.
The Health and ICT stakeholders from the 36 states of the federation were not left out in the review process. They gathered in Abuja on 29th September 2015 to review and provide needed comments. This draft (October draft) was later approved at the 58th National Council on Health (NCH) in Sokoto holding 7th – 11th March 2016.
